To Members of the NASULGC System:
Today is my last day at Fleishman-Hillard Government
Relations (FHGR) and before departing, I want to thank all of my
friends and colleagues within the land-grant system for the
opportunity to work with you during the last three and one
quarter years. As you know, I am a vigorous and vocal champion
of America's land-grant and related universities. Your
integrated mission of research, teaching, and extension is the
envy of the world and a primary reason why America has such
strong and resilient food, agriculture, and natural resources
industries.
As for my future plans, I have decided to return full-time to
Idaho and seek election as Lieutenant Governor. I have always
been proud of my public service career and look forward to once
again serving the people of the great State of Idaho.
Finally, I want you to know that I leave you in very good hands.
Fred Hutchison, my partner at FHGR, will continue as the
day-to-day project manager for The BRT and principal internal
and external communicator. In addition, The BRT will soon be
infused with new talent from Fleishman-Hillard, including Paul
Sweet, John Hishta, and Mike McSherry. These new team members --
with impressive government relations skills, expertise, and
experience -- will work closely with the lobbyists from
Cornerstone Government Affairs -- Tim Sanders, Louie Perry, Fred
Clark, Mark Rokala, and Jim Richards -- to ensure that The BRT
continues to provide "blue ribbon" service to the NASULGC
system.
Thanks again for the opportunity to serve you. If you should
like to stay in touch, please email me at my AOL address:

With warmest wishes,
Sincerely,
